Norfolk Archery Christmas Newsletter

Happy Christmas from Norfolk Archery!

The Festive Season is upon us and unfortunately that means a short break in the archery calendar. Don’t worry though, as we have lots coming up after Christmas to be excited about!

The Norfolk Bowmen Stafford is first up on 14th Jan 2018. Always the first event in the Archery Calendar, and a great opportunity to shoot something other than a Portsmouth Round. This 30m indoor round is a good challenge, and there is a double on offer too, so make sure you get your entries in so you don’t miss out.
Check it out here: Stafford

Hingham Bowmen are also offering up two great indoor shoots.
First up, the County Championships on 4th February. This shoot was full in a little over two weeks, and looks like its going to be a great event. If you missed out, contact Hingham to see if you can get on a waiting list, but also please do come along to cheer on those competing.
Hingham are also hosting their ever popular End of Season Shoot on 8th April. This will follow its usual, popular format, of a double Portsmouth, followed by the Team Vegas. The Team Vegas is full, but there are still spaces in the Portsmouth, and again, attendance for support and cheering/heckling during the team Vegas is encouraged!

Fakenham Bowmen have also released their outdoor Calendar, and all these shoots are open for entry.
They have the Mayday shoot on the 6/7th May, the Summer WA Weekend on 14/15th July and the Clout Weekend including the County Clout on 13/14th October.

Aside from Shoots, we also have some more Development Days coming up.
There are currently two more of these training sessions running during the indoor season.
21st Jan, 10am @ Kings Lynn
24th Feb, 10am @ Wymondham Archers
Space is available on both these sessions, contact norfolkcoaching@gmail.com for more information and a place on the sessions.

This year we are running a Countywide Portsmouth Postal League which is being managed by Rachel, our co-team Manager.
Results are in for the first month, and can be found on the website by clicking here
The winners for each discipline for November are:
Compound: Euston Park Bowmen
Recurve: City of Norwich Archers
Barebow: Wymondham Archers
Longbow: Wherry Archers

After the AGM we have a change to the committee, with Sarah Hubbard replacing Chris Moore who has stepped down as the County Treasurer. We’d like to extend our thanks to Chris for his work over the last few years, and we wish Sarah all the best as she takes on the role.
We’d also like to welcome Pete Hill to the committee as Development Secretary, and his role is to be a club liaison, to aid in club development and offer advice and county support where clubs face difficulties.

Norfolk also saw a good representation at the National Indoors at the start of this month, and you can read a synopsis of the weekend here.
We are immensely proud of Layla Annison, who came third in the Back-to-Back tournament on the Saturday, and was crowned National Champion on the Sunday!

That is all for this newsletter – have a very Happy Christmas, and we look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Best wishes
