Norfolk Archery March Newsletter

Hello Everyone!

We hope you have enjoyed the Indoor Season – its time to look out the window and turn our attention to the upcoming good weather and light evenings which can only mean one thing – Outdoor Season!

Before we leave the safety of the building and head out into the weather there is one more major indoor shoot coming up, with a new date. That of Course is the Hingham Bowman End of Season Shoot – Now on Sunday 23rd April. This is always a fun shoot, so make sure you find a partner for the Team Vegas and get your entries in!

One of the biggest events we have coming up in the County over the next few months, and a staple of the Norfolk Archery Calendar is the Fakenham Bowmen Mayday weekend, this year celebrating it’s 30th Anniversary.

Comprising a two-way Longbow shoot and Warwicks on the Sunday, with a St. George/Albion/Windsors on Mayday, this is a great fun Record Status shoot with lots of cake, Nicola’s famous catering with a special Mayday Burger, and of course the Judges in PomPoms. Not a shoot to miss!

Another Norfolk ever-present is the Norfolk Bowman Strawberries and Cream Shoot.
Held on Sunday 25th June, the shoot is a FITA 900, with Strawberries and Cream included for lunch.
Another bonus, no pesky dress regulations to spoil the summer fun!

Finally just a quick announcement that the Norfolk Outdoor County Championships will be hosted by City of Norwich Archers on Sunday, 17th September 2017. Full details and entry forms will be available soon on the website, but get the date in your calendar!

Important Information

Ok, so we’d like to think everything in the newsletter is important, but this bit really is, especially for the clubs within the county.

Archery GB Ground Registration!

Archery GB have issued a new process for ground registration, meaning that, from 1st April, Clubs will have 6 months to self-certify all their shooting grounds. Your Club Secretary should have received information from Archery GB regarding this, but if not, please check out the attached information about this.

Full information will be available on the Archery GB website after 1st April.

Coaching

There is plenty happening in the world of coaching in the County.

Firstly, we have just had a number of coaches complete Level 1 and Level 2 Courses – congratulations, and we look forward to seeing you in action.

A list of our coaches can be found here

Secondly a new series of Development Days has been launched taking us through into the heart of summer. New venues, but the same popular format as the ones we have been running during the spring which have seen a very high participation rate.
